The Autism Center at Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive, evidence-based assessment and treatment for children between the ages of 18 months and 21 years of age with the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Medical Psychology Clinic (formerly Rapid Treatment Program)

The Medical Psychology Clinic (MPC) offers a short-term assessment and treatment model for medication management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and new onset of depression and/or anxiety. The MPC provides assessment and treatment for children and adolescents ages 5 through17. The goal of the MPC includes efficient stabilization of symptoms with eventual release to the pediatrician’s or, in some instances, a psychiatrist for longer-term medication management.

Referral Process: Medical psychologists accept referrals specifically from a patient’s pediatrician or primary care physician. These referring physicians will assume ongoing medication management responsibility for the psychiatric condition after the youth is assessed and stabilized in the Medical Psychology Clinic.

Referrals can be submitted via EPIC by selecting LCMC Ambulatory Referral to Pediatric Behavioral Health/Psychiatry/Psychology and selecting department “CHNO ST Rapid” or via fax to (504) 896-7273. Referral needs to include the provisional diagnosis and specifically request “Evaluation/Treatment with Medication Management”.

Pediatric Neuropsychology at Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive, evidenced-based assessments and treatment for children and adolescents with a range of medical and neurological disorders that affect cognition and behaviors. Conditions treated include: Brain Injury, Spina Bifida, Epilepsy, Genetic Conditions, Concussions, Brain Traumas, Premature Birth, Tourette’s Syndrome, Brain Infections (e.g. encephalitis), Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Stroke.
